Ridleian Earns Loran Scholarship
Prefect, Grace Lowes '16 has been awarded a prestigious Loran Scholarship! This year, the Loran Scholars Foundation received 4,273 applications from students across Canada and only awarded 31, making Grace one of the top 0.7 percent of applicants. She has been awarded a four-year scholarship (to the eventual school of her choice) and paid international internships. Click here to read more.
Newly Endowed Visual Arts Prize
The Wang family of Shenzhen, China has recently endowed a new visual arts prize, entitled the J.Z. Given Prize for Visual Art, which will be presented May 5th, 2016 at the Celebration of the Arts awards ceremony in the Mandeville Theatre. The award recognizes the student who has demonstrated exemplary engagement with studio activity and has created the most mature and accomplished body of work in a senior visual arts course. A very warm thank you goes out to the Wang family for such a generous donation.

Triumphant Weekend for Hockey Tigers The First Boys and First Girls hockey teams both earned medals this weekend as their respective North American Prep Leagues came to a close. The First Girls defeated Rice Academy (Vermont) 5-1 to take the NAPHA bronze medal at the Harbor Centre in Buffalo, NY, while the First Boys team marked back-to-back MPHL Championships with a convincing 8-2 victory in the final over Gilmour Academy on home ice.

Raine Maida ’89 Plays St. Catharines Alumnus Raine Maida ’89 and his wife Chantal Kreviazuk performed to a sellout crowd at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines on Febraury 9th.
Alumnus Appointed CDN Ambassador to U.S. David McNaughton '67, Chairman of Strategy Corp. and co-chair of the Liberal election campaign in Ontario, was appointed the new Canadian ambassador to the United States.

Mexico City Reception A special thanks to Nadine Karachi-Estrada ‘87 and her husband Fernando Estrada for being such gracious and generous hosts of a very successful event at their home on February 17th. We were delighted to reconnect with alumni and, in particular, with Mr. Tom Ehrenberg ’50, who was the first student from Mexico to attend Ridley (from 1943 – 1950). Tom was a member of the school’s first football and swim teams, and won the Mason Gold Medal in 1950.
