Happenings On Campus
Students Net Ice Time with Ottawa Senators The National Hockey League came to campus as a special treat for our Ridleians on Friday, April 22nd. Students belonging to our hockey programme joined players from the Ottawa Senators, for two hours of fun on-ice sessions and scrimmages at the Tiger arena. In addition to spending time on the ice with students, the Senators toured the campus, visited classrooms and checked out the newly built Lower School Playscape, designed for students in JK to Grade 8. Thank you to the Ottawa Senators and Mr. Eugene Melnyk for giving our students such an incredible opportunity.

Annual Cadet Church Parade and Inspection Under blue skies, on April 24th, 500 members of the #162 Ridley College Cadet Corps marched along the traditional route through the city. As the Cadet Corps paraded through the Marriott Gates, the mace was tossed and successfully caught by Drum Sergeant Major, Preston Coffin ’16.
The following weekend, on April 30th, the cadets participated in the 109th Cadet Inspection. Despite cooler temperatures, plenty of alumni, family and friends of Ridley visited campus to watch the inspection. Thank you to this year's Reviewing Officers, Dr. Jack Lightstone, President and Vice-Chancellor of Brock University, and James B. Milligan, Head of Lower School.

Ridley Hosts Novice Debate and Speaking Symposium Ridley hosted over 70 competitors from ten different schools on Saturday, April 16th at the annual Novice Debate and Public Speaking Symposium. The event featured two rounds of parliamentary debate on the topic of, "the arts are the most important subjects", and one round of impromptu speaking. Fittingly, the day ended with a talk by local artist and Ridley grad, Alexander "Sandy" Rasmussen '07, who presented a fine talk on the importance of the arts and the need to find your passion in life.

It was a wonderful evening attended by generations of Ridleians, who came together to honour James. B.
